This title was Brother Martin's and Coach Alan DeRitter's second title in a row. Jesuit, though, was the only team to be
nationally ranked by being 7th. Perhaps the reason for this was that Jesuit won the Catholic League by defeating Brother
Martin twice during the regular season. This was Acadiana's fourth title appearance, losing its second, and fourth Final
appearance in five years.
For only the second time in eight years, Jesuit failed to make it to the Finals. However, Jesuit did manage its record
tenth Semifinals appearance. Lafayette in its last season coached by Jim Simon appeared in its sixth Semifinal.
Brother Martin's defense made history as this was the first year that any Louisiana team went through the playoffs unscored
upon, outscoring its opponents 6-0 in five playoff games.
This season also was the first season that I ran a webpage for high school soccer, which was
